Confina con i dipartimenti del mwigLot e Garonna a nord, del mwiwTarn e Garonna a nord-est, dell'mwjaAlta Garonna a sud-est, degli mwjqAlti Pirenei a sud, dei mwjgPirenei Atlantici a sud-ovest e delle mwjwLandes a ovest.

Le principali città, oltre al capoluogo mwkqAuch, sono mwkgCondom e mwkwMirande. Il dipartimento è famoso per la produzione di mwlaarmagnac.
